ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed rookie guard Kraig Urbik. The terms of the deal have not been released. Urbik is expected to compete with Darnell Stapleton and Trai Essex for the starting right guard position.
The Steelers now only have one more rookie draft choice to sign in first round defensive end Ziggy Hood. Hood played defensive tackle in college, but is a better fit at defensive end in a 3-4 scheme, which the Steelers play.
Urbik also can play right tackle, where he could play in the future. Urbik is more of a run blocker, than a pass blocker, and is a good fit with the Steelers smash mouth offense.
