The NFL announced that New York Jets outside linebacker Calvin pace has been suspended four games due to violating the league's policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances. Pace will be replaced by Vernon Gholston the first four games of the season.
Pace, like every one else who gets busted for breaking the substance abuse policy claims he did not know the substance he was taking violated any rules. Pace can play in training camp and into the preseason, but is banned from the team the first four weeks in the regular season.
Last season, his first season with the Jets, Pace registered 80 tackles and seven sacks. In 2007, his best season, Pace registered 6.5 sacks and 98 tackles, as well as an interception. Pace started all 16 games in his rookie season.
